Anne Essay about Environmental Collapse Essays

Anne Essay about Environmental Collapse Essays Anne Essay about Environmental Collapse Paper Anne Essay about Environmental Collapse Paper The world today is encountering a lot of environmental problems. One of these problems that is evidently seen everywhere is pollution. Pollution is the addition of chemical or physical agents to the air, water, or land in an amount that can threaten human health, plants, and wildlife. It also lessens the human enjoyment of the environment. Pollution is mainly caused by the people, and this results in natural disasters, dirty and contaminated environment, and diseases. The primary cause of pollution is the people. As we all know, our country is overpopulated and consequently, it adds up to the pollution. Since there are many people, a lot of space is being occupied. The place gets crowded, thus not having room for air, noise, and garbage disposal. The lack of discipline and selfishness of people also worsen pollution. Undisciplined people throw their trash anywhere they want to while selfish people do not care about what is happening around their environment. Instead of the people helping diminish pollution, they become the ones aggravating it even more. Lack of dumpsites also increases pollution because people don’t have enough space to throw out their garbage. Pollution also has its adverse effects such as natural disasters, diseases, dirty and unpleasant environment. Natural disasters such as flood and erosion occur because of pollution. Floods take place because trash that is not thrown in the proper place clog the sewers and drainage. Erosion, on the other hand, takes place because of the rubbish buried under the soil. The soil could not hold anymore because of abundant trash buried under, thus causing soil to erode. Another consequence of pollution is diseases. People get diseases such as cholera and amoebiasis from contaminated water, which is again due to the garbage thrown in rivers or other bodies of water. These diseases could also lead to death sooner or later. Pollution also makes the environment dirty, messy, and unpleasant to look at. We can see that pollution causes diseases, natural disasters, and dirty environment. In order to lessen these things, we must act responsibly, take care and be more conscious of our environment.

What Are Variables in Computer Programs

What Are Variables in Computer Programs A variable is a way of referring to a storage area in a computer program. This memory location holds values- numbers, text or more complicated types of data like payroll records. Operating systems load programs into different parts of the computers memory so there is no way of knowing exactly which memory location holds a particular variable before the program is run. When a variable is assigned a symbolic name like employee_payroll_id, the compiler or interpreter can work out where to store the variable in memory. Variable Types When you declare a variable in a program, you specify its type, which can be chosen from integral, floating point, decimal,  boolean or nullable types. The type tells the compiler how to handle the variable and check for type errors. The type also determines the position and size of the variables memory, the range of values that it can store  and the operations that can be applied to the variable. A few basic variable types include: int - Int is short for integer. It is used to define numeric variables holding whole numbers. Only negative and positive whole numbers can be stored in int variables.   null - A nullable int has the same range of values as int, but it can store null in addition to whole numbers. char - A char type consists of Unicode characters- the letters that represent most of the written languages.   bool - A bool is a fundamental  variable type that can take only two values: 1 and 0, which correspond to true and false.   float, double and decimal - these three types of variables handle whole numbers, numbers with decimals and fractions. The difference between the three lies in the range of values. For example, double is twice the size of float, and it accommodates more digits. Declaring Variables Before you can use a variable, you have to declare it, which means you have to assign it a name and a type. After you declare a variable, you can use it to store the type of data you declared  it to hold. If you try to use a variable that hasnt been declared, your code wont compile.  Declaring a variable in C# takes the form: data_type variable_list; The variable  list consists of one or more identifier names separated by commas. For example:   int i, j, k;   char c, ch; Initializing Variables Variables are assigned a value using an equal sign followed by a constant. The form is: data_type  variable_name value; You can assign a value to a variable at the same time you declare it or at a later time. For example:   int i 100;   or   short a;int b;double c;   /*actual initialization */a 10;b 20;c a b; About C#   C# is an object-oriented language that does not use any global variables. Although it could be compiled, it is almost always used in combination with the .NET framework, therefore applications written in C# are run on computers with .NET installed.

His writing on Walden discovered that with the natural lifestyle preserved, the advantage is presented on the need to offer solutions to uphold humanity through the changing environment. The longest of his chapters on his writings had been based on the measures needed to preserve the economy. The economy had been driven by the struggle by individuals to present the efforts needed to achieve a higher lifestyle and struggling with fluctuation in market prices. The solution in simple living and application of cheap alternative measures that utilize minimal raw materials from the environment had been the proven solution. Thoreau led a comfortable lifestyle with the advantage offered in applying readily available materials. Marketing and advertising essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2000 words

Marketing and advertising - Essay Example several options available to them – the internet, the newspaper, buzz marketing or viral marketing, events, public relations or even through direct mail. Today even the human body is used as a bill board (Newman, 2009). Media planning would again differ for established brands and for new product launches. The entire strategy can be different depending on that target market and the product positioning. Reliance on traditional media is decreasing because marketers want a direct relationship with the consumers. This is the reason that Proctor & Gamble (P&G) has been experimenting with viral marketing. P&G is an established brand and can afford to take such risks. When they found selling coffee to the youth was difficult through the traditional media, they place video clips on Web sites like adcritic.com, boardsmag.com, buzzpatrol.com, and YouTube.com (Vollmer and Precourt, 2008: 52). After the ads are placed agents are employed to spread the buzz about the product through their own social network (SD, 208). The process is not costly but requires creativity and innovation. While this media is very quick at spreading the good word, adverse publicity is spread equally fast. A new product would first try to penetrate the market but established brands like P&G seek long-term relationship with the customers. For a new product launch, if the negative publicity marks the beginning, they sta nd to lose the market share. An established product has mush less at risk in using this media. An established brand is as concerned about which media the competitors use as the new product launchers would be. For instance, Levi decides on its media and the budget with rival expenditure in mind. In advanced countries TV is the dominant advertising media and is heavily used by Lee Cooper and Wrangler and hence Levi’s too has to follow suit (Vrontis & Vronti, 2004). However, Zara, the Spanish clothing company, since inception, has not spent on advertising and the media. No billboards

Analytic paper on the current state of economic development and its Term

Analytic on the current state of economic development and its system of governance in Somalia - Term Paper Example Somalia has been exacerbated by failed attempts of the international community to restore peace and as such Menkhaus argues that Somalia’s state collapse at governance level falls into the â€Å"dubious distinction of being the world’s foremost graveyard of externally sponsored state-building initiatives† (Menkhaus 74). However, on the other side of the spectrum, Menkhaus highlights the point that notwithstanding the socio-political collapse of Somalia’s governmental and judicial infrastructure; this is has not prevented economic growth and development particularly at a fragmented local level (Menkhaus 74). Moreover, Menkhaus suggests that the lengthy absence of governance is in fact a significant causal trigger in promoting economic development via joint ventures between business groups, traditional business methods and civic groups (Menkhaus 74). The focus of this paper is to critically evaluate the current state of economic development and its system of governance in Somalia. To this end, it is submitted as a central proposition in this paper that sustained economic development in Somalia is intrinsically dependent on the socio-political backdrop and that therefore implementing meaningful initiatives to restore legitimate governance will go further to sustain stability in economic development in the long term (Cypher & Dietz 22). Therefore, whilst the lack of governance may not have prevented economic development in Somalia per se, it is further submitted that the political instability remains a central barrier to sustained economic development and growth in Somalia in the long term. This proposition is further supported by Menkhaus’ argument that â€Å"the repeated failure of top-down efforts to revive Somalia’s central government must not obscure the significant success of governance-building efforts within some local Somali communities† (Menkhaus 74). Indeed, the post-colonial development of Somalia within the wider context of contemporary

A Universe of Mathematical Laws :: Essays Papers

A Universe of Mathematical Laws Galileo instigated one of the most important scientific changes in history. He developed many new ideas and ways of gathering information which he used to hypothesize new theories. He used his ability to persuade and changed the way science was thought of forever. He developed a new instrument called the telescope and discovered a wide variety of new information about the universe. This information would eventually influence scientists, theologians, and basically all people. He had discovered that the earth was not the center of the universe, and that the universe contained more numbers and mathematical formulas than ever thought. In fact, Galileo, pictured below, often thought of the universe as just one enormous math problem. The fact that the universe was becoming more mathematical and less abstract caused many problems within the church. People now how to deal with the fact that human beings were not the center of everything. They had to deal with the fact that human society was possibly less important than had been previously believed. Galileo developed the idea that the universe was a playground of numbers, and this idea changed lives, religions, and history forever. Why were these changes that Galileo caused so controversial in people's lives and religions, though? Why was the transition from the belief in a earth-centered universe to a heliocentric universe so hard for people, and why was the knowledge of a mathematical universe so important? The answer to these questions comes from the lives that these people led and the "truths" in which these people had their lives based. The working class of the late fifteen hundreds lived troubled lives, where infants died often, disease was usually incurable, and most people where extremely poor. The only thing these people had to believe in was God and the rest of the church. On the other hand, church leaders led extravagant lives with luscious food and housing. They did not want Galileo to change the status quo and ruin the fine lives they were leading. Galileo's testimony that the earth was not the center of the universe frightened many people into thinking that he was suggesting that G od didn't exist. People weren't ready to hear the fact that they were not the center to which everything else revolved around.
